When does hidradenitis suppurativa really need surgery — and what affects the outcome?
A 10-year retrospective study of 61 surgical HS patients found that smoking, younger age, and existing fistulas were associated with more post-operative complications. Pre-operative minocycline was linked to a lower complication rate, while advanced disease (Hurley stage III) and absence of post-op topical antibiotics were associated with recurrence.
