Hair Disorders & Treatments

Diagnosis and treatment of hair loss and scalp conditions — female pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, scarring alopecias. The correct diagnosis is the most important step.

01
What this is

Hair loss is many different conditions with overlapping appearances. Female pattern hair loss, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, scarring alopecias (frontal fibrosing, lichen planopilaris), and the trichotillomania spectrum all need different treatments. The visit starts with a careful history, a scalp exam, and trichoscopy.

02
What this addresses
  • Female (and male) pattern hair loss
  • Alopecia areata — patchy, totalis, universalis
  • Telogen effluvium — postpartum, post-illness, post-stress
  • Scarring alopecias (frontal fibrosing alopecia, lichen planopilaris, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia)
  • Postpartum hair changes and hormonal-driven shedding
03
What to expect
  1. 01 First visit is diagnostic: history, scalp exam, trichoscopy, and labs where indicated.
  2. 02 A written plan with realistic timelines. Hair takes months — improvement is usually visible at 4–6 months, not weeks.
  3. 03 Topical, oral, injection-based, or device-based treatment depending on the diagnosis.
  4. 04 Photo documentation at intervals so progress is objective.
04
Safety and contraindications

Some treatments interact with hormonal conditions, pregnancy plans, or other medications. A complete medication and history review is part of every hair visit.
